Leader of the Week: Celestial McBride

Celestial McBride

Leadership , is when someone leads others to a destination or goal, by example of actions, not commands. Someone can tell another person what to do all day long, and still that person will get no where. On the other hand, someone can get to that destination, leaving a trail of actions, in which someone else can follow step by step.

One of the most important leadership experience that I have had, was through the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). My first year in the FBLA, I was asked whether I wanted to run for a district position. Being new to the club, I was hesitant. With my dream of leaving a legacy behind, I decided to run for Webmaster and got the position. Year two of being the FBLA, I had held a low district position and wanted to go higher, so I ran for District President. I have held that position  going on two years. As District President, I am in charge of planning and executing the monthly meetings, keeping in contact with state officers, district officers, members, and my district’s advisers.  Being district president is my best leadership experience because it has allowed me to see what I am capable of when I have confidence in not only myself, but in the people I am leading. In the FBLA, I don’t tell people to do things, I show them how to do them and inspire them to do so, because I have always tried to lead by example of actions, rather than words.

Celestial is FBLA District 28 President, founder and President of FLVS Chess Club, a Titusville Police Explorer, an FLVS Student Student Ambassador, an FLVS peer tutor, and Florida LEADs ambassador.
